- The most common homicide weapon in 2002, 2003 and 2004 was a firearm.
- However, the percentage of homicides committed with a firearm has declined steadily over the past three years from 85% in 2002 to 73% in 2004, for an overall decrease of 33%.
- The most rapidly increasing method of death is blunt trauma, which increased from a single homicide in 2002, to three homicides in 2003, to a high of ten homicides in 2004, despite the substantial decrease in total homicides between 2003 and 2004.
